Autism is a lifelong, non-progressive neurological condition typically appearing before the age of three years significantly affecting verbal and non-verbal communication and social interaction. In India, there are estimated to be 1 in 89 autistic children. Despite its significant prevalence, autism is not well understood or accepted in society. As a result, many children and adults with autism are unable to access timely support services from a variety of professionals, such as speech therapy, sensory integration therapy, special education, dietary changes, etc. The second of April is recognised as World Autism Awareness Day each year. As part of the theme "Leave No One Behind" for World Autism Awareness Day 2022.
The Tele Center for Persons with Communication Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders Unit of AIISH collaborated successfully to organise various activities such as Facebook live program, Radio Talk Shows, Fun Fair, Drama Therapy Workshop, Orientation to Administrative staff, Parent Guidance Session, and Orientation to visitors and patients regarding ASD.
- Sensory integration in children with Autism on 01.04.2022
- Journey of a mother and child with Autism spectrum disorder on 13.04.2022
