About AIISH Gymkhana

 

The AIISH Gymkhana serves as a dynamic platform to foster extracurricular engagement among students, staff, and their families at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru. Established in 2004, the Gymkhana aims to encourage, develop, and promote social, cultural, recreational, and literary activities within the AIISH community. It also intends to create and maintain a cordial relationship with other institutes and organisations by organising inter-institutional events.

2024-2025

  1. IftharThe AIISH Gymkhana organised an Iftar gathering at the Institute's Amphitheatre on 6th April 2024.
  2. International Yoga Day: The Institute celebrated the 'International Yoga Day' on 22nd June, 2024. The event featured Mr. Kamaraj and Mr. Chakradhar from Datta Yoga Peetham as resource persons, who guided participants through various yoga practices.
  3. Fresher's Day: The AIISH Gymkhana organised a Fresher's Day celebration on 5th July  2024, to welcome the newly admitted undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  4. Ethnic Day: The Ethnic Day was celebrated on 6th July 2024, allowing students to showcase and celebrate their diverse cultural heritage.
  5. Annual Day: The Institute celebrated its 59th Annual Day on 9th August 2024 under the agies of AIISH Gymkhana. Sri. Apurva Chandra, Secretary and Ms. Changsan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, were the chief guest and the guest of honour of the inaugural function.
  6. Independence Day: AIISH, Mysuru, commemorated the nation's 78th  Independence Day on 15th August, 2024. Wing Commander Dr. Srikumar Gopalan, who served as the Chief Guest, graced the event.
  7. Teachers Day:The Institute celebrated 'Teachers Day' on 5th September 2024. The teachers were honoured, and various games and activities were arranged during the event.
  8. Cyber Crime Talk: AIISH Gymkhana was organised a talk on Cyber Crime on 11th October 2023, in the Seminar Hall, Academic Block. Mr. Shamugha Varma from Police Training School, Mysuru, served as the resource person.
  9. Farewell Program: The AIISH Gymkhana organised a farewell program on 17th October 2024, to honor the outgoing students of the Institute.
  10. Ayudha Pooja: The Institute celebrated Ayudha Puja on 20th October, 2024, at its premises and honoured the tools, instruments, and equipment that aid in professional and learning activities.
  11. Interclass Competition: The AIISH Gymkhana organised an Interclass Competition from 21st to 26th  October, 2024, for the students.
  12. Kannada Rajyotsava: The Institute celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava from 3rd to 5th December, 2024. The three-day event featured a variety of cultural programs and competitions that highlighted Karnataka's rich heritage and traditions. The celebrations concluded with a valedictory function on 5th December, 2024, graced by Sri Balakrishnaiyyah, a distinguished expert in Kannada language, who served as the chief guest.
  13. Christmas: The Institute celebrated Christmas on 23rd December, 2024. The event saw enthusiastic participation from staff, students, preschool children, and their parents. Various cultural activities were organised, fostering a festive spirit and community engagement among attendees.
  14. New Year : The Institute celebrated the new year on 1st January 2025. The Director, senior faculty members and student representatives addressed the gathering and wished a happy and prosperous year.
  15. AIISH Volleyball League and Football:  The AIISH Volleyball League (AVL) & Football event were organised for boys and girls on 17th January 2025.
  16. Cricket tournament: A cricket tournament (Men & Women) was organised on 18th & 19th January 2025.
  17. Handball Tournament: The Women's handball Tournament was organised from 20th to 24th January 2025.
  18. Throwball Tournament: Throwball Tournament for Women was organised from 20th to 24th January 2025.
  19. Republic Day: The Institute celebrated the 76th Republic Day of India on 26th January, 2025. The event was graced by Sri Y.C. Revanna, President of the Freedom Fighters' Association, Subbarayanakere, Mysuru, who served as the chief guest. The celebrations featured cultural performances by students and preschool children, highlighting India's unity in diversity.
  20. Ratha Sapthami Yoga: A week-long yoga training was organised by the Gymkhana on 4th February 2025. 
  21. Kite Flying: A Kite flying event organised for the students and staff on 9th February 2025.
  22. Sourabha inter-collegiate Competition: The Institute students participated in the Sourabha inter-collegiate competition, a renowned cultural festival held at Ravindra Kala Mandira,  Bengaluru from 18th to 26th February 2025.
  23. Open-Mic: An open-mic event was organised on 19th February 2025 at the Amphi-theatre of the Gymkhana, which provided an excellent platform for students and AIISH staff to showcase their talents and artistic expressions.
  24. International Womens’ Day: In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2025, the AIISH Gymkhana organized a series of activities to promote women’s health, empowerment, and participation in economic initiatives. The events, such as a health screening camp, sales by female entrepreneurs, rangoli competition and ramp walk, were conducted on 17th March 2025.
  25. Trekking: A two-day’s trekking was organised to Kurinjal, Karnataka. A total of 200 staff and students attended the activity. 
  26. Participation in Cricket Tournament:  Nine Institute students participated in the Cricket Tournament, organised by the Dr. K.G. Varghese Memorial Club,  Free Hits, J.P. Nagar, Mysuru. 
  27. Other Competitions Organised: Various competitions were organised for the staff and students throughout the year, including the Inter-class Rangoli, solo-singing, group song, duet dance, group dance, video making and dandiya night.
