2.6.1 Program outcomes
BASLP
Objectives of the program
The objectives of the BASLP program are to equip the students with knowledge and skills to
  • Function as audiologists and speech-language pathologists in different work settings
  • Understand concepts in speech, language, communication, hearing and disability
  • Screen, evaluate, diagnose and assess the severity of different disorders related to speech, language, swallowing and hearing, manage speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders across life span counsel persons with disorders of communication and their family members rehabilitate persons with speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders
  • Prevent speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders, liaise with professionals in allied fields and other stake holders implement public awareness and education program,
  • Undertake advocacy measures on behalf of and for persons with speech language and hearing disorders
Outcome of the program
Students who have successfully completed BASLP program can function as
  • Audiologist and speech language pathologist in hospitals, private clinics institution etc.
  • Audiologist and speech language pathologist to  prevent speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders, liaise with professionals in allied fields and other stake holders implement public awareness and education program

B.Ed.Spl.Ed. (HI)
Objectives of the program
The objectives of the B.Ed.Spl.Ed. (HI)  program are to equip the students with knowledge and skills to
 
  • Acquire knowledge & skills about human development, contemporary Indian education, and pedagogy of various school subjects and assessment for learning.
  • Acquire knowledge & skills about nature and educational needs of children with Hearing impairment.
  • Develop conceptual understanding of education provisions and skills for working with children with hearing impairment in Special and inclusive settings.
  • Enhance knowledge and skills for professional development
Outcome of the program
Students who have successfully completed  B.Ed.Spl.Ed. (HI)  program can function as
 
  • Special educators for children with hearing impairment  in various settings such as schools, pre-schools etc.
  • Special Educators and provide educational guidelines for children with hearing impairment.
  • Special Educators and implement parent empowerment programs for parents of children with hearing impairment
M. Sc (Audiology)
Objectives of the program

The objectives of the M.Sc. (Aud) program are to equip the students with knowledge and skills to
• Function as teachers and researchers in institutions of higher learning,
• Diagnose and manage disorders of hearing and balance across life span,
• Counsel and guide persons with disorders of hearing and balance as well as their family members,
• Implement rehabilitation programs for persons with hearing and balance disorders, to function as the disability certification authority in the field,  liaise with professionals in allied fields and other stake holders,
• Implement prevention and public education programs,
• Undertake advocacy measures on behalf of and for persons with hearing and balance disorders,
• Advise government and other institutions on legal and policy issues related to persons with hearing and balance disorders, and
•  To establish and administer institutions of higher learning in the area.

Students who have successfully completed M.Sc. (Aud) program can function as
 
  • Independent researchers and researchers in the institution of higher learning
  • Audiologists and independently assess and mange individuals with hearing disorders, balance disorders  across lifespan
  • Rehabilitation professionals and implement international national and state level prevention and public education programs, advocacy measures related to hearing and balance disorders
  • Head of the institutes and establish institutions of higher learning in the area

M. Sc (SLP)

4.4.2 – Procedures and policies for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities - laboratory, library, sports complex, computers, classrooms etc.


The Institute is an ISO 9001-2015 Standard certified organization and the maintenance and utilization of the physical, academic and support facilities are carried out in accordance with the needs of the Standard. The infrastructure facilities are being augmented periodically in order to meet the growing needs of the students. 

Maintenance of Physical Environment: The physical environment of the Institute is maintained by 36 housekeeping personnel led by a supervisor hired on contract through outsourcing which will be overseen by the Caretaker. The Caretaker is also responsible for carrying out the minor civil repairs works including sanitation and carpentry. The garden maintenance is carried out by 16 garden staff under the supervision of the Assistant Horticulture Officer.

Maintenance of Equipment: The Department of Electronics maintains and upkeeps the electrical, electronic and IT infrastructure facilities and equipment of the institution. The Electronic Engineers, Computer Engineers and Technical officers of the Department maintains the personal computer systems, networking gadgets and server computers, manage the electrical fittings and fixtures and similar items. Special and dedicated biomedical equipment, equipment which requires spares that are not available in the market are maintained by awarding annual maintenance contract to the respective manufacturers/dealers.Computers with internet access have been deployed in all the labs with a number of specialized software packages installed such as Aeroviews systems, Ultrasound imaging system
