Dr. Hema N. is an Assistant Professor in the area of Speech Sciences. Her doctoral research was under the guidance of Dr. Shyamala. K. C. titled- Discourse analysis in Kannada-English Bilingual Individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury, subjects were selected from a hospital setup based on neuroimaging procedures. She completed her master’s and a doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, University of Mysore.

Her research interests are in neurology and neuro-linguistic study of language and cognition in neuro-typical individuals, persons with aphasia, the geriatric population, and other adult language disorders like dementia, traumatic brain injury, right hemisphere damage, and primary progressive aphasia. Her focus of interest is in the assessment and management of persons with aphasia caused due to stroke and individuals with mild cognitive impairment. Conduct scientific experiments using various research software for analyzing language and cognitive function and has published several papers in national and international journals.

Presently, Dr. Hema. N is working on research projects and guiding Ph. D. candidates in the area of aphasiology and identification of dementia in elderly aged individuals in relation to neuro-typical individuals. She is also a recognized guide for Ph D. in Linguistics at the University of Mysore. Over 21 master’s dissertations are completed under her supervision and six research project funded by AIISH is completed successfully.
